Wine & Jazz Festival
I think this week’s Wine and Jazz festival at the University of Charleston is worth noting. I have gone to the last few W&J fests and they always bring good music and several wines from local vendors. I think you have to pay $10 for an all day pass but that gets you a complimentary wine glass. Some people go there planning to get free wine all day, but I usually buy a bottle fairly soon after arriving. An average bottle costs about $10 dollars and it beats standing in line all day for small servings of wine–trust me, there are people who do this. I do have some advice…
Things to bring:
1) folding chair–a towel will also work, but I find a chair more comfortable
2) sun block–yeah, it’s going to be hot
3) Advil–if you get a headache from the sun/wine concoction you’ll wish you had brought it.
4) a dark shirt or at least not white–wine does stain and you’ll probably see some evidence of that.
5) $50–see below
Things to buy while you’re there:
1) a wristband–you can’t get in without it…unless you are a little baby or something…well are you?
2) buy a bottle–like I said, it beats standing in line
3) Food–not only will you probably get hungry from the smell alone, the food there is really good. For the wine connoisseurs, various cheeses and breads are available. For the winos, they have various meats on a stick, gyros, greasy tasty stuff, etc.
That’s enough for now…hope to see you there!

You might want to consider the use of “Lenimentus” in the revision of the “Montani Semper Liberi”.
When I first saw it I laughed–thinking it was a commentary on WV’s political situation. My initial thought was that it referred to Vladimer Lenin. Upon reading further, I saw the intended meaning.
Of course, it might refer to both past and present.

Yet another event that occurs in the late Summer…Multifest of West Virginia.
